Installation. Cabinet filled with water from the Volga River, found objects, boards, logs, aquarium, Volga water, digital printing
In the Nizhny Novgorod region, every city has a strong connection with water. People settled on the river bank to drink water, lived on water crafts for hundreds of years in these places. But nothing remains of the ancient settlements, even of the houses of a hundred years ago: the water that fed them flooded these same houses.

In Dzerzhinsk, the river changed its course and began to flood the settlements on the bank, so the residents of this city had to move from the river bank higher three times. During the construction of the Nizhny Novgorod hydroelectric power station, many houses were flooded: despite the fact that the residents were offered to move higher along the bank, some houses had to be abandoned, and some resisted and did not want to move. So, somewhere at the bottom of the Volga, there were flooded houses.

The installation represents the space of a house under water: entering on boards and logs, the viewer first finds instructions at the entrance on how to behave in this space. On the reverse side, the point where the flooded houses are located is marked. After reading the instructions, you need to explore this space in silence for 15 minutes: objects, texts, learn the history of this house. Moving deeper, you can find an old cabinet that has started to fill with water inside.
